Contactless payments limits have more than doubled to £100. Set at only £30 before the pandemic the limit was raised to £45 to reduce handling in outlets.
From October 15th the limit is now £100.
The new limit will not be automatically available at every merchant as technology changes are needed to equipment.
More than a quarter of all payments were made by contactless during 2020 and this is expected to increase with the new limit.
